But good design isn’t about how you put social media buttons together or even how cool the graphics are. For a great design, you need a web design process for making websites that fit in with your overall strategy.

Websites that look good are good for more than just their looks.

They draw people in and help them understand the product, the company, and the brand through a variety of visual, textual, and interactive cues. That means that every part of your website needs to help you reach a clear goal. For me, there is seven web design process for building a website:

Goal identification is the part of the process where I work with the client to figure out what goals the new website needs to meet.

Scope Identification: Once we know the site’s goals, we can decide on the project’s scope. That is, what web pages and features the site needs to reach the goal, as well as when they need to be built.

Making a sitemap and a wireframe: Once the scope is clear, we can start digging into the sitemap and figuring out how the content and features we talked about when we talked about the scope will work together.

Content creation: Now that we have a better idea of the site as a whole, we can start writing content for each page, keeping in mind search engine optimization (SEO) to keep each page on a single topic. For the next step, it’s important that you have real content to work with:

Visual elements: Now that the site’s structure and some of its content are set, we can start working on how it looks. Depending on the client, this may already be well-defined, or you may be starting from scratch to define the visual style. This can be done with the support of style tiles, mood boards, and element collages.

Testing: By now, you should have all of your pages set up and know how they look to site visitors. It’s time to make sure everything works.

Combine manually browsing the site on different devices with automated site crawlers to find everything from problems with the user experience to broken links.

Launch: When everything is working perfectly, it’s time to plan and carry out the launch of your website! This should include planning when to launch and how to tell people about it. Then it’s time to break out the champagne.
